What Size Chainsaw Do I Need for Fallen Trees and Limbs?
A chainsaw should fit the work you do regularly and the control you can maintain, not the biggest fallen tree you hope to tackle alone.
Size is not a substitute for judgment
It is tempting to buy the biggest saw you can afford for the one storm that might happen. That is usually the wrong way to think about it. A saw that is manageable for routine limbs and cleanup is more useful than a larger one that rarely leaves the shed.
Match the saw to regular work
Consider the diameter and type of material you actually cut, how often you do it, and whether you can work from stable ground. Read the current manufacturer guidance for any saw you consider.
Fallen trees are complicated
