Westinghouse’s model page lists 120/240V output, electric and remote starting with recoil backup, a 211-pound dry weight, and no CO sensor. It specifies total harmonic distortion of up to 23%. This is not an inverter generator.
The selected Amazon page identifies WGen9500DF. A nearby variation or recommended product may have different equipment; don’t assume a review of the “c” version describes this one.
What an independent test found
In Glenda Taylor’s hands-on review for BobVila.com, she found the generator straightforward to use and successfully operated several tools. She also criticized the tiny display-mode button and measured roughly 89–90 dB from about six feet away.
Those are her observations and measurements, not ours. The noise result also isn’t directly comparable with another brand’s figure taken at a different distance or load. It does support a simple expectation: this is a substantial running engine, not a quiet substitute for a battery power station.
Taylor’s experience with remote starting included replacing the remote battery before achieving its advertised range. That is a useful reminder to test the complete starting routine rather than assume the remote in a drawer will be ready years later.
What longer ownership adds
A Reddit owner account after nearly five years describes useful outage service but also a carburetor replacement after fuel was left sitting. A separate owner report describes a failed main switch and a successful replacement.
Neither report establishes how often those problems occur. They do make a useful buying checklist: fuel-storage habits, accessible service, and readiness checks all belong in the cost of ownership. Buying a generator is the start of the backup plan.
I wouldn’t copy troubleshooting shortcuts from the comments. Use the correct manual and service support for a fault, especially where electrical controls are involved.

For a new purchase, I’d favor a suitable model with CO shutdown and electrical output matched to the equipment. If you are considering this exact WGen9500DF, compare the savings against those limitations rather than assuming all Westinghouse 9,500-watt listings are interchangeable.
