Backpack vs. Handheld Leaf Blower: Which One Do You Actually Need?
A backpack blower is not automatically better. It is better only when the cleanup route is long enough to justify wearing it.
Handheld is enough more often than people think
For patios, driveways, beds, and normal weekly cleanup, a handheld blower is easier to grab, store, and live with. I would not buy a backpack unit just because it looks more serious.
When a backpack earns its place
If you are clearing long drives, large lawns, or a heavy leaf route for an extended time, carrying the weight on your back can make more sense than holding it in one arm. The tradeoff is more equipment, more noise, and more storage.
The job is still collection
A blower moves leaves. It does not finish the cleanup. Pick where the pile is going before you start, especially with wet leaves.
