40V vs. 56V vs. 80V Lawn Tools: Does Voltage Really Matter?
Voltage is part of the battery story, but it does not tell you on its own how a mower or trimmer will fit your yard.
What voltage actually tells you
It describes part of a battery platform. It does not tell you everything about battery capacity, motor design, weight, cutting performance, or how long a tool will suit your property.
Why the bigger number can mislead
Two tools with different platform numbers can be aimed at completely different jobs. A lighter trimmer can be the better choice for weekly edging even if another platform carries a larger number on the box.
Choose around the routine
Look at the battery options, the rest of the compatible tool line, charger setup, and the work you expect to do. That is a better decision than treating 80V as automatically better than 56V or 40V.
